Desert Blues

The weather has started dipping down into cooler temperatures, and there was one recent day with awesome clouds, thunderstorms, and a cold wind.  I took advantage of the grey skies to finally do a shoot inspired by Antonioni's Red Desert.  I wasn't really a fan of the movie's story-line or narrative, but the visuals are striking.  Monica Vitti's red hair and bright outfits stand out sharply against the grey world of factories, shipyards, and smokestacks that she inhabits.  (The sets were hand painted to wash out any additional color, so the people in the film stand out even more.)
Here's my take on '60s style made bleak and industrial.

  1. Absolutely lovely images! My "blink" thought was that they have a really endearing indie movie vibe to them. No particular reason why that sprang to mind. I think it's a mix of the tones here, your vibrant blue coat and the variety of expressions here. Wonderful photos, dear gal.

    1. Thank you! I have a feeling this is going to be my go-to coat for winter, since the blue is vivid but not too springtimey.

    1. Thank you! I try to experiment with bold colors more often and get myself away from just wearing black, like I used to.
